Flutterwave has noted recent media coverage related to an alleged hack of Flutterwave’s security systems.

Protecting our customers’ personal and financial information is our key priority and we understand that any potential security breach can cause concern among our customers.

As previously communicated, we want to reassure our customers that Flutterwave systems have not been hacked. Earlier this year during a routine check of our transaction monitoring system, we identified an unusual trend on some users’ profiles. In line with our standard operating procedure, we immediately launched a review which revealed that some users who had not activated some of our recommended security settings might have been susceptible. We have been communicating with these users as part of our review. Our investigation conducted to date has not identified any hacks into our systems. No user has lost any funds.

With regards to the forfeiture petition referred to in the media, we cannot disclose specific legal actions or discuss ongoing cases due to the confidential and sensitive nature of these matters. However, we are collaborating with the appropriate authorities and pursuing all available legal options to hold those responsible accountable.

We remain fully committed to providing best-in-class data security and encourage all our customers to follow our recommended security measures to further enhance the security of their accounts.

We will continue to update our customers and stakeholders on any pertinent developments as they become available, while respecting the legal process and protecting the privacy of those involved.
