Dubai, a city of innovation, business, and rich culture, has cemented its position as a global business hub for cross-border trade, continuing to attract businesses from Africa, Asia, and Europe. In 2024, the UAE achieved a record AED 3 trillion (USD 816 billion) in non-oil foreign trade, and a 14.6% increase year-on-year. In just H1 2025, the UAE achieved a record AED 1.7 trillion (USD 463 billion), highlighting its significant role in global commerce.  The UAE continues to be a top destination for African and global businesses expanding into MENA.

In 2024, Flutterwave expanded into Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Turkey to support one of our longest-standing partners. We also strengthened our presence in Egypt, where we’ve operated for years, and recently launched Send App, to support Egyptians abroad in sending money back home. Our focus is on deepening our footprint in the MENA region through the UAE, which allows us to solidify our position as a truly global payments company. Enhancing our presence in the UAE positions us at the centre of both global and regional economic activities.

An Evening with Flutterwave in Dubai

We recently hosted an exclusive Happy Hour in the heart of Dubai. The evening was an opportunity to connect and explore how Flutterwave can drive business growth and the future of payments across Africa and the MENA region.

The event brought together merchants, partners, and industry leaders, including Amit, CEO of EziPay; Priyesh, Director of Africa & Middle East at Ripple; and Pankaj Kundra, GM of Network International, among others. In attendance from Flutterwave were Olugbenga Agboola, Founder/Chief Executive Officer, alongside Flutterwave’s senior leadership team, Sid Gautam, Head, Enterprise Commercial Growth, Prashant Kalia, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, and Bridgit Antwi, Head, Strategy & Planning.
